When we pause to reflect on how God provides for us, we uncover truths that are both simple and profound. In Genesis 1:29, God speaks directly to us, saying:
“Look, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the surface of the entire earth and every tree whose fruit contains seed. This food will be for you, for all the wildlife of the earth, for every bird of the sky, and for every creature that crawls on the earth – everything having the breath of life in it. I have given every green plant for food.”
These words are more than ancient scripture—they are an invitation to align with the rhythm of life God has set in motion since the beginning of time. He designed our world with care, providing everything we need to nourish not just our bodies, but our spirits, too.
When I Didn’t Know What Clean Eating Meant
I’ll be honest with you—when I was in my 20s, I had no idea what clean eating was. Back then, I thought turkey dogs were health food. Processed, packaged, and quick-to-make meals dominated my diet because I just didn’t know any better.
But over time, I started to notice how certain foods made me feel. Some left me energized and strong, while others made me sluggish or downright ill. I began to educate myself about nutrition, learning about the power of whole foods to heal and support my immune system.
Little by little, I made better choices. I swapped out the processed foods for plenty of fresh fruits, vibrant vegetables, and homemade meals. Now, my plate is filled with God’s gifts from the earth, and my body feels the difference. Clean eating has become a way for me to honor the temple God has given me.
Clean Eating as Worship
When we choose foods that come directly from the earth—foods that are as close as possible to how God created them—we’re doing more than making healthy choices. We’re worshiping Him by caring for the incredible bodies He’s entrusted to us.
Clean eating is about more than just what’s on your plate; it’s about seeing every bite as a gift and every meal as a moment to reconnect with God’s abundant provision.
A Loving Challenge
If you’re just starting to explore clean eating, I want you to know that you’re not alone. This journey isn’t about perfection—it’s about taking small steps toward greater health and alignment with God’s plan for you.
This week, I challenge you to add one simple, whole food to your meals each day. Maybe it’s a handful of spinach in your smoothie, a crisp apple for a snack, or roasted veggies with dinner.
As you eat, pause and pray:
“Lord, thank you for this food. Thank you for creating a world so abundant in goodness. May this meal strengthen me to do Your work and to love as You love. Amen.”
