The Beauty of Spiritual Leadership over Natural Leadership

The Beauty of Spiritual Leadership over Natural Leadership

Spiritual Leaders bring a depth, purpose, and selflessness to their leadership that transcends conventional boundaries.

In the realm of leadership, two distinct types often emerge: the Natural Leader and the Spiritual Leader. Both have their places in the world and have shaped societies, cultures, and civilizations. However, when we delve deep into their core values and guiding principles, we find that Spiritual Leadership offers a dimension that surpasses the limits of Natural Leadership.

Foundation of Confidence

A Natural Leader derives confidence from the self – from personal achievements, knowledge, and experiences. They exude an aura of self-assuredness. On the other hand, a Spiritual Leader finds confidence in something far greater – God. This divine connection offers an unshakable foundation that remains steadfast amidst challenges.

Driving Force

Ambition drives Natural Leaders, pushing them to achieve great things. But Spiritual Leaders are self-sacrificing, often putting the needs of others above their own. Their mission is to serve, making their leadership style more inclusive and compassionate.

Methods

Originality is the hallmark of a Natural Leader. Yet, a Spiritual Leader seeks out and adheres to God’s methods – principles that have stood the test of time and cater to the greater good.

Approach to Leadership

Natural Leaders enjoy commanding, asserting their authority. In stark contrast, a Spiritual Leader embodies the role of a servant, ensuring the well-being of all under their care.

Motivation

Self-interest fuels the Natural Leader, aiming for personal gain. Spiritual Leaders, however, are driven by a profound love for God and fellow humans, making their leadership genuine and altruistic.

Dependence

Independence is the mantra of a Natural Leader. Conversely, a Spiritual Leader acknowledges their dependence on God, recognizing that true strength comes from surrendering to a power greater than oneself.

Source of Power

A Natural Leader’s power emanates from their charismatic personality. But for a Spiritual Leader, it’s the Holy Spirit that empowers them, allowing them to lead with divine guidance.

Leadership Imagery

Lastly, imagine a cowboy driving a herd. He is behind, pushing, possibly using fear as a tool. Contrast this with the Spiritual Leader, the shepherd, who stands at the front, leading, guiding, protecting the flock, ensuring no one is left behind.

I believe while Natural Leaders have their merits and have contributed immensely to societal growth, Spiritual Leaders bring a depth, purpose, and selflessness to their leadership that transcends conventional boundaries. Their focus on serving and their reliance on divine guidance makes their leadership holistic, ensuring that the flock they lead is not just driven but lovingly guided toward a higher purpose.
